Want to Improve Your Online SendOutCards Experience?

Mozilla FireFox, Internet Explorer, and Safari are all well-known Web Browsers. What you may not know is that certain browsers are up to modern Web standards and others are not. This means you may be losing out on certain SendOutCards features and experiencing slower performance depending on the browser you currently use. In particular, Internet Explorer is a widely used browser that isn’t up to par with these Web standards.

What can be done? Well, the answer is simple, and best of all it’s free. We suggest using our recommended browser, Mozilla Firefox, to navigate the SendOutCards Web pages and fully enjoy the features we have to offer. Go to www.mozilla.com to download it now.

Other options include using the Web browser Safari (www.apple.com/safari/), or if you are adamant about sticking with Internet Explorer, you will want to make sure to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. You still may experience slower performance and loss of features, but it will improve your experience if you are currently using an earlier version.

Travis Millward, our lead Web developer, explains: “The majority of users are still using Internet Explorer. The faster they switch over to modern Web browsers like Mozilla, the sooner we’ll be able to use newer and cooler features on our Web site.” Our programming manager, Rick Davenport, had similar thoughts to optimizing your online experience: “We code according to modern Web standards created by the Word Wide Web Consortium, and Internet Explorer doesn’t always comply with those standards.”

Though we aren’t on a campaign to endorse a specific browser, we do want to help create the best online experience possible for our distributors and customers. For this reason we consulted with our Web experts at SendOutCards to bring you what we hope to be an educational experience. Thanks for tuning in!

I want to explain the benefits of using Mozilla Firefox over IE for SendOutCards to my clients. Is there somewhere on the site that details the benefits (i.e., underlines misspelled words) etc.? Nancy Tibeau

We currently do not have a page that details the benefits of Mozilla Firefox. We recommend Firefox because we have experienced better performance using it as a browser with our Web site; it is also more secure and does include the spell-check feature you mentioned. For additional benefits, you may just want to go to Mozilla Web site.

Thanks!

I switched over to Firefox about a month ago. It's awesome! I love how much faster I can navigate around the SOC site. Great recommendation guys.

It would be helpful if we had a section/page dedicated to this and/or customer support for our customers on the installation. I have had a few issues with PC clients not installing the Adobe Plug-in in addition to the Firefox installation and it has caused them not to be able to run the tutorials on our site even though they have Firefox installed. I have been able to straighten this out with clients however it has been time consuming. Thanks!

We actually have a section on the Customer Service page that addresses browser compatibilty:

https://www.sendoutcards.com/cgi-bin/trncustomer.pl?customer_service:

You can also tell customers that there is a link on this page to both the Adobe Flash Player download and the Mozilla Firefox upgrade. When you click on those links they should take you through the entire process as well. They have their own tutorials.

Hopefully this helps you out!

I NEED a more dedicated area.

My issue is that after using Firefox for about a month for SOC and my regular job my BANNER LINK at SOC would no longer work. I don't have any computer savy friends that know Firefox well enough to resolve the issue. So I have to take prospects into SOC thru Internet Explorer when I meet with them. (I usually meet at a coffee shop or lunch cafe to show them SOC on my laptop).

Can anyone post or can we create a section on clearing the cookies and cache? I'd love to use Fire Fox regularly and when presenting SOC the first time.

[Fire Fox will not allow the link on the banner to work to get you into the window for your prospect to place their info to open a gift account]

Thanks!

Hey Sara!

Thanks for you comments!

I have never personally run into this problem. I would suggest clearing your cache and cookies, restarting your browser and then retry the link. You can clear your cache and cookies in Firefox by clicking "Tools" (on the menu bar) then select "Clear Private Data...". A new window will open and just make sure that everything is checked EXCEPT for "Saved Passwords". Go ahead and click "Clear Private Data Now" and close out of all Firefox windows. Reopen Firefox and try use your banner again. If this does not fix your problem please contact SendOutCards Support at support@sendoutcards.com.

Thanks!

Hi SOC,

I've become a Google Chrome (browser) LOVER. Its the fastest, lightest browser out there and its only going to get better. I would like the SOC Pgm. team to optimize SOC for Chrome as well. It works now (97%), but a few things could be addressed.

Thanks,

Hey Jeff!

Google Chrome is an amazing browser and I am glad you are using it over Internet Explorer! We "promote" Firefox over Chrome ONLY because Firefox is available for all platforms where Chrome is only available for Windows.

Really the only browser that we have a problem with is Internet Explorer 6. This is because it is way outdated and doesn't recognize our new sweet technology!

It's like using an old brick mobile phone (you know which one I am talking about, it weighed 19 pounds, battery lasted for 45 minutes, didn't store contacts...) to send a picture message to someone. It's just outdated and back then there was no picture messaging! It will work to make phone calls and to stir up conversations about "back in my day...".

Sure there are things we can do to "make" our site work with old browsers, which we do, but I would rather spend my day adding new features and brainstorming how to make the site easier to use and navigate then making one thing work with an old browser.

Simple solution, upgrade your browser! It will work faster and you will notice that you have more features on the websites that you use!
