Official Statement from SendOutCards Founder & CEO, Kody Bateman, On the New Card Editor

SOC is excited to be introducing the new card editor. The project to build this system started two-and-a-half years ago. A migration plan was put into works around convention time, August of 2008. The migration efforts from the old card editor to the new one have proven to be the most challenging part of the project. The biggest part of this challenge is that, to our knowledge, there have been no internet-based companies that have conducted a migration that includes stored text and data that is attached to a daily printing functionality.
What makes this unique is that we have over 150,000 users on the old card editor. Most of those users have stored data in text and image formats. This data includes user’s contact managers, handwriting fonts, saved campaigns, action logs, favorites, and custom cards. This accumulates to thousands of gigabytes of information.
We now have a new card editor that works under a different format, and all of this information is being transferred to the new system. We also have a new gift account walkthrough with a video version of Kody Bateman walking you through sending that first card. Some have wondered why we turned on the new version without keeping the old one optional. Walkthroughs are pointed to your personal banner pages (www.sendoutcards.com/1000). They are also interactive, so they are run by the use of the live card editor. For these reasons, it would have been confusing to have two walkthroughs running.
We also have a new format that the software uses to send your greeting card data to our iGen printers. This format allows us to do amazing things with your greeting cards. Full-bleed images (i.e. you can have an image completely cover the inside of a 2 panel or 3 panel card), multi, color, size and style fonts within sentences and paragraphs, multi-placement of signatures and P.S. lines, etc, etc. This kind of enhancement puts SOC in a whole new league with digital printing technology. Nobody in the printing or greeting card industries even comes close to delivering the kind of technology that we now have at SOC.
This is called progress. Our offerings have evolved and we have stayed on the cutting edge with our technologies. You have heard it said that if you want big muscles you have to lift weights. Progress requires work and even a bit of pain along the way. We are currently in the middle of a one-of-a-kind migration process. Those who might speak out as critics to our efforts might be feeling some of that pain along with us. We encourage you to gain an understanding of the massive and unique undertaking that we are succeeding at. We have had our challenges and a few glitches along the way. We may even experience a few more. The good news is that we are doing it, and we will succeed. This is how companies progress. This is how we grow. This is how we become a billion-dollar Greeting Card and Gift enterprise.
Our plan is to phase out the old editor by the end of January. We need to have the majority of data shifted to the new editor and the majority of users comfortable with the new system. We will be working closely with the Eagle’s Nest and our staff to assess when we are ready to turn the old system off. We encourage you to use the new system along with the new gift account walkthrough. We also encourage you to train your teams on the new system and be excited about this revolutionary progress.
This will be our best year ever in SOC. You will experience massive growth and exciting change. Please, don’t get discouraged. We are building for a better future. Don’t quit when you feel the pain. The times of pain prepare you for the times of prosperity. The new card editor and printing system will catapult us into a whole new league. Stay on for the ride.
Your friend,
Kody Bateman

Thanks for your honesty. We are all starving for communication and progress updates. You and your team have stepped up and are really trying to get the bugs out. As an ex software developer, I know the challenges you face and I have the grace and understand to allow you to continue getting it right. We are all going to benefit from your risk and rewards.
Thanks for the inspiring words Kody, and all the time and effort you and everyone else working on this has put in. When all the glitches are taken care of anyone can see how GREAT this system will be. I am just so thankful I am a part of SOC.
Good Job Kody!
Your right we will succeed. Well put we all need to imagine the card editor working perfectly the way it was designed and planed out. Bringing that kind of energy will cause the forces of the universe to make it happen. Kudos to the engineers for even taking on this enormous challenge. We will believe and the card editor will succeed. Challenges is the fuel for achievers. Consider it done. Cheers Kenny Ikezoe
I have yet to do anything with the New Card Editor, I have just clicked on the new editor and looked at the first page of cards. I then elsewhere and found Cody's message, the information he wrote on different font size, colors, placement etc for signature and et-al was sufficient for me to realize without having yet sent a card that this is a major and exciting move for the Send Out Cards Company and all it's associates, Congratulations; and as of tomorrow may we, the USA and the world at large be blessed by our New Presidency.
I am a brand new Entrepreneur (as of 1/13). I only know the new Editor and I love it. I was so impressed with the system that I had to become a part of it. Reading this blog, I am even more impressed with what SOC has done to make this system as phenomenal as it is! Additionally, I was lucky enough that the first TER of the year was a 45-minute drive from my house! So, I got the very best jump-start anyone could hope for in a new business! I was inspired by Kody and all the other speakers and seated right behind me was Jordan Adler, who was very kind and a really genuine guy. I am halfway through his inspirational book!
Many thanks to you, Kody, and your amazing team for such a fantastic opportunity. I am achieving my life's dreams with SOC!
As always, Kody, you are our EAGLE showing us true leadership, thank you. We did need to hear it from you to realize how massive an undertaking this is. I encountered a few hiccups and then WOW! Even the back of the cards are new - have you guys checked that out! We are walking our talk like never before and thank you to all the team for all you do, every day! We have only just begun :-)
Kody, I longed to see this migration, since it was first introduced at the 2008 Convention. Kudos for an outstanding migration process. Yes, there are pieces that need to be tweaked, but overall, as a former QA Manager in the software industry, I believe you and your staff have done an outstanding job. I doubt if most people understand the enormity of the task you have undertaken, primarily because you have made it so smooth and transparent to the user. That in itself is a testament to the success of this challenge.
Love the new card editor its the best!
Of course everything new is a challenge and will have problems just like a new distributor doing the 90 day action plan and the daily 8's but i have no doubt that SOC will get everything running 150%!!!
I just returned from visiting SOC at their headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. I am VERY impressed with what I saw and was blown away when told SOC is now the LARGEST first class stamped sender of postal mail in the entire country. Bravo SendOutCards!
Kody and everyone else at SOC,
I am loving the new card editor and the various new effects that are possible with it. We know this will be done in good time and we understand how hard you all are working to make things even better than they are now.
Thank you and God bless!
Suzanne
I'm the kinda' guy who doesn't peek ahead at my Christmas presents, even though my wife simply puts them - unwrapped - underneath the bed to "hide" them. I just figure, Christmas will be here soon enough, and I enjoy it all the more.
But I'm as anxious as the next person regarding our New Card Editor! I LOVE the Beta, and I'm champing at the bit to have everything fully migrated. "Christmas" will be here before we know it!
Kudos to the entire SOC Team in everything from fielding inbound calls to changing line after line of code to migrating giga-billions of bits of data! Y'all are THE best!
We're helping on this side too Kody! We're all part of the SOC Family. We understand it's a huge undertaking, and we thank you and all your hardworking staff for the opportunity to come along on the ride!
It's only a matter of time, and will be well worth the wait!
Thank you, Kody and your team, for your expertise for developing and implementing such a wonderful unique on-line greeting cards system that is for personal use and an income opportunity; no other card service does it like or better than SOC. I was impressed with the old system, but the new system is even more impressive. I do have a passion for sending out cards; with your technology you have made my card-sending a true blessing in my life. The SOC development can only get better with the necessary time invested in tweaking the new system. I always embrace enhancements of technology when it definitely is an upgrade to a better platform. Again, thank you "SendoutCards", all of you!
No Pain, No Gain...
Keep up the good work!
Kody and all involved in the new card editor...
You all rock! Love the new GAW video! And for keeping us in the loop and up to date on the successes and challenges of the card editor...nobody does it better! Makes me love being a part of this great organization even more!!!
Hi Kody and team,
What a great company with graet leadership. In this age of non-communicative and secretive leadership you are practicing what you preach. Thanks for the honest and heartfelt updates. We see and understand the enormity of this undertaking and thank you for being honest and open. Thank you also for the way you have handled isues arising from the new editor. I am so excited to tell folks about SOC and I am so blessed to have found a HOME. Thank you for all you do and represent. Our cup is always "Half Full".
Kody and the SOC TEAM
